Events and Craft Sales Calendar
The following is a schedule of events and crafts sales in 2009 sponsored by Haitian Ministries and/or our friends.
If you, a group, or organization is interested in hosting a sale of Haitian arts and crafts from our Haiti’s Back Porch shop, please contact Judy Secord at 860.549.1501, or Patty Kantrowitz, Haiti’s Back Porch shop manager, at 860.344.9547.
We will have sales at various locations throughout Connecticut beginning in April. Those dates and locations will be posted here as soon as they are available. You are always invited to shop year-round at Haiti’s Back Porch, 100 Riverview Center, Suite 130, Middletown, CT.
Monday, February 9, at 7 p.m.: An Evening about Haiti
Maryann Boord will speak about Fonkoze, a financial service for the poor of Haiti that focuses on micro-credit lending. This event kicks off a series of evenings when the Haiti Committee of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church of Hartford hosts educational talks about Haiti. (Other events will be posted as they are scheduled.)
- The Feb. 9 event begins at 7 p.m. and is free and open to all. The event is casual, and a question-and-answer period will follow Ms. Boord’s presentation.
- The location: Franciscan Center, 285 Church Street, Hartford.
Saturday, April 18, at 6:30 p.m.: Third Annual “For Love of a Child” Gala
This gala is Haitian Ministries’ major fund-raising event of the years and is an evening of great food, fellowship and entertainment.
- Ann Nyberg, anchor at WTHN-News Channel 8 in New Haven, is this year’s honorary chairperson.
- The evening begins with a champagne welcome and features a three-course meal. It includes top-notch entertainment and a silent auction of vacation weeks in Morocco, Arizona and Mexico.

Saturday, April 25, at 6:30 p.m.: Wine Tasting, with food and silent auction
St. Mary Church of Coventry is hosting this fund-raiser, featuring a silent auction.
